This week we asked the Invstr Community which private company they would invest in if it went public in 2021. The polls revealed an interesting but not completely surprising split, with a whopping 63% of all Invstrs thinking that SpaceX would be the best investment. With Elon Musk at the helm of SpaceX, professional credibility is strong; this comes in addition to Elon’s likable personality and SpaceX’s monument accomplishments such as landing rockets and making them reusable. SpaceX is truly always moving one step further towards its goal of reaching Mars. The second most popular choice and taking the silver medal is TikTok, the world-famous app powered by the might of GenZ, memes, and a plethora of exciting trends. Throughout quarantine and the pandemic, TikTok has emerged as an outlet for boundless creative expression packaged in a quick and fun way. Boasting millions of users, it is no surprise TikTok is being rated so highly. For many, TikTok would serve as a stock that one could believe in it both quantitatively and qualitatively.
Next up, the bronze medal goes to Ikea, holding a healthy 6% lead over the 4th place company, Blue Origin. Ikea is a company that may not break the internet or the boundaries of space but does make furnishing your home affordable, accessible, and stylish. In fact, it is one of the largest sellers of furniture in the world, and years of selling and building a loyal client base mean Ikea, unlike its furniture at times, could be a very sturdy investment. Last but not least, we have Blue Origin, a SpaceX competitor lead by none other than Jeff Bezos, now the second richest man in the world after none other than Elon Musk, and founder and chairman of Amazon. Blue Origin often gets overshadowed in the glory of SpaceX. As a result, if Blue Origin went public, it may become undervalued, making it a strategic pick for the 3% of Invstrs who chose it and are fans of the value investing approach.
As companies continue to grow and new players join the field, the question of who the best potential public investment is will evolve and staying up to date will be necessary. To keep on top of all the latest news, check in with Invstr Crunch daily!
