Elon Musk aka “The Modern-Day Iron Man” and his company SpaceX have been working on a way to provide people with internet connection through an interconnected satellite network in low-Earth orbit.
On Monday, the company announced that its beta test will be available to the people who have expressed interest in signing up for the service. The product they call Starlink is priced at $99 per month and users will incur a $499 cost upfront for the Starlink Kit.
The $499 Starlink Kit includes a user terminal to connect to the satellites, a mounting tripod and a WI-FI router.
The company has made it clear that people should not expect this beta expansion to blow their minds the way one expects from a standard Elon product. The test is being named the “Better Than Nothing Beta Test”, according to the email sent out to interested parties.
With the “near 700,000 individuals” in the U.S. that have indicated interest in the service, Elon Musk is preparing for further innovation in yet another industry. Thank you, Iron Man.
