Soros Vs Thiel
Billionaire George Soros is a man of controversy, conspiracy and philanthropy. Anyone who knows of the man has probably heard some version of a crazy story involving Nazi’s, the creation of the black lives matter movement or the simple fact that he is pure evil. This is not to confirm or deny any of these claims, it’s about being aware of what people have said about him and his reputation.
On the flip side, 90-year-old Soros has used his fortune to fund different groups promoting justice, democracy, human rights and progressive politics. His philanthropic efforts span far and wide and what’s most impressive is that the majority of his firm’s assets belong to his foundation rather than the Soros family.
Recently, Soros Fund Management stated that it would not have made its investment in data-mining company Palantir Technologies Inc. if it had a chance to do the same today. On Tuesday the firm said ““SFM made this investment at a time when the negative social consequences of big data were less understood, SFM would not make an investment in Palantir today.”
Mr. Soros is serious about his stance on tech companies and artificial intelligence. He’s made it clear that he sees companies such as Google and Facebook as gambling companies that exploit the data they control and foster addiction among users. If all billionaire investors felt the same way, what would happen to Big Tech?
