The Cherished Queen’s Funeral
After days of mourning and reverence, everyone across the globe has wished their final goodbyes to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who has been laid to rest today at the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor. Thousands gathered and many more watched her final processions, with presidents, prime ministers, and nobility all in Her Majesty’s attendance. The longest-reigning monarch in Britain’s history was buried alongside her late husband, Prince Philip, and her son, King Charles III will take the throne as the UK’s new monarch.
Before the solemn burial service, the Queen’s coffin was laid out for public viewing, and queues of mourners reaching 5 miles at 22-hour waits were present. This event was merely a small fraction of the immense respect both British citizens and people all over the world had for the sovereign. As a Monarch, Diplomat, Mother, and much more, the Queen was a truly inspiring and extraordinary woman who will serve as the ideal role model for the next British monarchs to come.
