Put Your Hands Up
The concept of paying for things with your phone via Apple Pay was a step in the right direction. No need to carry around a bulky wallet or if you happen to forget it at home, you will still have access to a method of payment. Who forgets both their wallet and phone?
On Tuesday, Amazon took this idea a step further after launching Amazon One. Amazon One is a new biometric technology that will let shoppers enter stores and pay with the palm of their hands. In the same way you link your credit card to your phone with Apple Pay, you will be able to link your credit card to the palm of your hand with Amazon One.
The technology will first be introduced in select Amazon Go stores in Seattle. They plan on expanding by selling the palm-scanning device to retailers, office buildings and stadiums.
One thing that will never go out of style is saving time. That’s something Amazon will continue to bet on in the upcoming future. Remember the faces of today’s cashiers because the “Just Walk Out” era has arrived.
