Meteorite Millionaire
When you think of the average millionaire, what do you see? A hardworking, disciplined investor? A commercial real estate developer? An heiress? Maybe a lottery winner?
Well, this accidental millionaire stumbled upon his big check after hearing a thud noise come from his home.
33-year-old Joshua Hutagalung is an Indonesian man living in a tiny metal hut in North Sumatra. Recently, his life turned around in one special moment after a 4.5 billion-year-old small meteorite smashed through his roof.
The man was doing some work across the street from his house when BANG! He heard a booming sound that made his entire house shake. As he puts it โit was like a tree had fallen on us.โ Hutagulang said โIt was too hot to pick up, so my wife dug it out with a hoe, and we took it inside.โ
From there, space expert Jared Collins headed down to see what he could do about obtaining and selling the space rock. Collins shipped it back to the U.S. where it was purchased by a collector for over $1.8 million. The saying โthe sky is fallingโ isnโt quite as negative once thought.
