Market Recap – November 22nd
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.18% today, closing at 34,098.10. The best performing sectors were the Energy and Materials sectors, up 3.27% and 1.82%, respectively. Looking at specific investments, we’re watching HP and Autodesk. HP (Hewlett-Packard) is a tech company that makes personal computers (PCs), printers and related supplies, as well as 3D printing solutions. Recently HP’s shares rose 1% after they surpassed expectations in its latest quarter; even so, HP is laying off 4,000 to 6,000 employees globally over the next three years. Autodesk is a software company, specializing in tools for industries like architecture or mechanical engineering. Recently, the stock dropped more than 7.8% after issuing fourth-quarter revenue guidance that missed expectations.
