Market Recap – April 4th
On Tuesday’s trading day, markets snapped their four-day win streak as investors slowly moved to test this year’s highs last seen on February 2nd. With earnings season just weeks ahead, investors are cautiously moving forward and analyzing recent economic data and job reports to judge the effectiveness of higher interest rates. At the bell, the S&P 500 fell by 0.58%, the NASDAQ Composite went down by 0.52%, and the Dow Jones declined by 0.59%. Accelerating the losses by the indices, oil and gas firm Valero Energy Corp plummeted by 8.01% as investors find a price that well compares it to its competitors. On the positive front, shares of video game company Electronic Arts climbed by 3.21% following the previous week’s decision to restructure the company and perform layoffs.
