Market Recap – January 24th
On Tuesday’s trading day, markets began to whipsaw as investors judged recent earnings reports and the action the Fed will take next week. At the end of the day, some indices had finished lower, with the S&P 500 dropping 0.07%, the NASDAQ Composite going down 0.27%, and the Dow Jones staying positive 0.31%.
Before the bell, one of the largest earnings releases came from 3M Company, which fell by 6.21% and hit a new 52-week low following lower-than-expected earnings and job cuts. On the green side, shares of truck manufacturer Paccar climbed 8.6% after growing e-commerce orders kept demand for delivery trucks high.
