This week, we asked the Invstr Community if they feel Twitter is in better hands with Elon Musk’s acquisition of the multi-billion-dollar company. The winner, by a solid margin, was the 43 percent of Invstrs who believe Musk will improve the company in the area of free speech. Musk has an exceptionally good reputation with his visionary mind leading to his title as the richest man in the world, and he already has his plans for the company. Musk has said in multiple interviews and tweets that he plans to uphold free speech principles as much as possible, making this a smart choice for first as most of the public is behind this. In second place is the 22 percent of Invstrs who aren’t sure how Twitter will be in the future. This is fair as this saga has been all over the place, making Twitter’s future unpredictable. It’s possible this reform campaign doesn’t manifest to anything, leaving Twitter exactly where it is, so this uncertainty makes this a reasonable 2nd place option.
To close out the podium, we have the 19 percent of Invstrs who believe Musk will have a negative impact through his authority. Social media is a different beast for Musk, regardless of how much time he spends on Twitter. He has a lot of strong opinions on what Twitter is missing and needs to fix, and some people don’t agree with that as they feel social media can pose dangers to society if it’s not further regulated. However, most people are excited about Musk’s tenure with the company, making this a good bronze medal finish. In last place, we have the 16 percent of Invstrs who believe there won’t be much of a difference with Musk in control. This is an interesting way to view it as it is true that Twitter has been exploring things like the edit button pre-Musk, and it’s plausible that Elon will just speed the process. However, it’s hard to imagine that Elon Musk won’t make a difference at any company he’s involved with, making this a perfect last place option.
