Invstr Jr an investing and money management account for parents and their teens, and perfect for those who want to make the stock market more accessible for teenagers. As a parent, you’re able to make investments for teenagers and minors, plus help them save and earn money, all while understanding what it means to be responsible with finances and make teenage investments grow.
If you’re familiar with Custodial Accounts, then you’ve already got a good idea of how Invstr Jr works for teens who want to invest in stocks! A parent or guardian is responsible for opening and managing the account, but the funds will be in the teen’s name. In order to make an investment, the minor must request a trade via their parent, who will ultimately approve or deny the trade. As well, parents have the ability to assign goals and reward their teens with cash upon completion.
At Invstr, we believe that investing–especially investing as a teenager–should be fun! We’ve done everything we can to make sure you get that experience, from Fantasy Finance, a virtual portfolio management game, to Invstr Academy, a 10-module investing course to help you invest as a teenager, to all of our technical analysis and charts to break down the stock market for teenagers. With Invstr Jr, it’s easier than ever for your parent or guardian to make investment for minors and get you started out on the right financial foot today.
You’ll need your parent or legal guardian to sign up for an Invstr Jr account. Make sure to share the request link for your account via text/email with your parent or guardian to set up their Invstr+ account and then set up your Invstr Jr account.
It can help parents make investments for teenagers and so much more! Make teenage investments in stocks, crypto, and ETFs at $0 commission, with fractional investing from just $5.
Due to federal regulations, anyone under 18 is not legally allowed to trade stocks–which means that you won’t technically be able to invest in your own stocks as a teenager. However, this is where your parent or guardian come in; they’ll be the ones making your teenage investments, but you can always request stocks for them to approve or deny.
Parents or guardians can help teens who want to invest in stocks and take on the stock market by making their investments via their Invstr Jr account. All trades will go through the parent, and they will always have the ability to approve or deny stock trading requests from their teen. When the teen turns 18, the account will transfer to their name.
Invstr Jr is a custodial account or child investment account, which means that a parent or legal guardian is able to make investments for the benefit of the teenagers. In this case, the Parent or Guardian acts as a fiduciary, meaning they have a legal responsibility to prudently oversee the teenager’s “investments.”
