Investors All at Sea Limited
Is the hottest stock Tesla? Apple? Netflix? Nah!
Sea Limited has barreled 880% in eighteen months to become the best performing stock in the world, and the most valuable publically-traded company in Southeast Asia. It has a market capitalization of $50 billion, offering investors combined exposure to e-gaming and e-commerce in the Far East, but through safe Singapore rather than controversial China.
Sea Limited’s CEO named himself after Forrest Gump, and caught a break with an East Asian version of ‘Fortnite’ called ‘Free Fire.’ It’s launched a game studio alongside its e-commerce unit, turning it into a rollup of online services akin to Tencent and Alibaba.
The highest praise of Sea Limited (and most biased) comes from its major shareholder, Kora Management. “It’s simple. We’ve found a great team with great products going after a big market and just executing extremely well. We think it’s a mini Tencent.”
The short-sellers even speak well of it; the stock price is what bears take issue with, wrapped up in a surrounding tech bubble. It’s due a correction, but shorting a business with 880% momentum can get you easily caught in a short vortex and removed from the game.
The Invstr fam is making big money on the long side, Sea Limited being case and point!
