Our reporter Lea Jakobiak recently spoke with CrescoCap Founder Derek Mayne to get advice for aspiring Investors and Asset Managers, and he recommends finding a sector or area of the market you are passionate about when deciding where to invest.
About Derek Mayne
Derek holds a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary where he also served as an Adjunct Professor. His background and core experience is in the Petroleum Industry where he was responsible for Ice and Metocean design criteria for the Kashagan and other North Caspian Sea developments. In 2011, Derek founded and is currently Managing Director of, Cresco Capital Markets (Malta) Limited, a Category 2 Investment Services Firm regulated by the MFSA. He holds AML/CFT training as well as the IMC1. Derek has been the main driving force in building Cresco Capital Markets and its FX execution brokerage business up to be a major industry player.
Derek’s leisure pursuits are as varied as they are adventurous; he is an avid sportsman, with recent sporting endeavours including attaining membership of the Crackpots of the Colombier, high altitude expeditions to Nepal and Ironman Triathlons. Other interests include owning a winery in Southern California.
