This week we asked the Invstr Community how long they felt the recent market downturn would last. Like always, we received a wide variety of opinions from Invstrs. The most common choice was that the downturn will last for a few months before shifting back to normal. This guess is not bad because for one, the markets are near impossible to predict, and secondly, the prospect of a downturn lasting multiple years is infrequent.
The second most popular response was that of indifference because of the time horizon for the investment. Indeed, many investors are long term, and only care about their portfolio’s performance over the course of twenty plus years. With this kind of timeframe, it makes sense to not be overly concerned with the timeframe of the current bear market.
Lastly, a near one-fourth of investors do not care, with the remaining saying the bear market will last at least a year. At the end of the day, it’s impossible to say how long something will or won’t last, but we can always give our best predictions. All in all, the Invstr community has once again spoken and with a diverse range of opinions! Thanks for sharing and happy investing everyone!
