High Heat For 5G
The 5G revolution is upon us. Around the world, countries are looking to speed things up in the form of a high-speed connection. This has induced serious competition and tensions worldwide. Especially between the U.S. government and China.
On Monday, the U.K. government made the decision to ban the installation of Huawei 5G networks. The final deadline for carriers to stop installing the 5G equipment is September 2021.
Where is this sudden change of spirit coming from? The United States. Washington has imposed some serious sanctions on Huawei and has defended these decisions by saying that these technologies could enable the government in Beijing to spy on sensitive communications. It is important to mention that Huawei denies these allegations.
The U.K. government is feeling the heat and following the USA’s lead on this one. If U.K carriers fail to comply with these rules, they will be fined up to 10% of their revenues of 100,000 euros ($133,000).
The roadmap for Huawei’s growth in the country looks bleak. The U.S. is doing everything they can to take them out of the game completely. Who will end up winning the race to 5G?
