Poll: Election Time – British Style
Having narrowly avoided a recession this week, Britain’s next grand spectacle is only 26 days away, a snap general election! As the country ponders a new “chosen one” to pass through the revolving doors of power and take a swing at Brexit, the Invstr community tells us exactly what it thinks of the UK’s sticky wicket!
- 36% Don’t care. I’m the master of the universe!
- 22% Scotland!
- 20% BoJo’s Conservatives
- 15% Corby’s Labour Party
- 7% Whatshername’s Lib Dems
On the ballot paper in December will be three main choices, the Tories, Labs, and Lib Dems! For investors, that’s a lose-lose-lose. If bookies’ favorite Boris wins it for his government, he’d likely force through his free trade deal. That would begin the “real” negotiations, and kickstart a new era of uncertainty. A fifth of Invstrs see that as our least-worst option!
However, if far-left Corbyn wins the keys to Downing Street next month, the current era of uncertainty would continue. Pollsters speculate that remain voters could snatch a second referendum under Corby, which the markets love the sound of, but 15% of our community must be shorting the pound! Corbyn’s nationalization plans are tipped by most analysts as a death sentence for the British economy.
So, with 7% wasting their vote on Swanson’s Lib Dems (we kid!), it must be the Scots! 22% of us would rather outsource this European groundhoggery to another country, even if it means becoming Scottish. 36% still, a Brexhausted majority in this poll, say “sod it” to the whole thing altogether! You are the masters of the universe, you’re right not to mix politics and investing, and we kneel to your supremacy!
