Thanksgiving is a time for people to get together and enjoy the little things in life. According to Invstr’s own Thanksgiving poll, 40% of users were getting ready to party hard with the family Turkey Style.
This boost in excitement and desire to get together amid the coronavirus pandemic had a big impact on a few industries and most notably, had a huge impact on air travel demand with a record number of travelers at the airport since the pandemic began.
A total of 1,176,091 people were screened at U.S. airports on Sunday, according to the Transportation Security Administration. Over the past week, there were a total of 4 times where air travel numbers were over 1 million according to ABC, indicating that people are slowly getting back to their normal lives.
Even though numbers are up compared to the beginning of the year, when compared to pre-pandemic levels, air travel is still down over 50%. In 2019, security checkpoints clocked in 2,882,915 people at security checkpoints on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Do you think this is still irresponsible? Or is there nothing wrong with a little Thanksgiving family time?
