Amazon Enters the Race – The Newest Addition To The AI War
Beginning in 2019, mega-cap tech firm Microsoft began its mutualistic relationship with AI development company OpenAI, funding a purported several billion dollars into research, training, and operations. Then, earlier this year, OpenAI’s language and text model ChatGPT seemingly took over the world, enlightening every layperson about the true wonder and value of artificial intelligence. Following ChatGPT’s success, Google joined the fray as a large contender just after Microsoft announced its ChatGPT integration into their Google Search competitor Bing. Now, alongside these two powerhouse tech companies comes another notable name: Amazon.
As the largest cloud-computing provider, Amazon just recently announced its newest developments in the AI space. Different than Microsoft and Google, Amazon plans to target their AI tools to corporate customers, not public consumers. Although several specifics remain unreleased, Amazon’s new generative AI models will cover different specialized purposes, served all under the blanket of Amazon’s cloud division AWS. As of now, what is known to be offered through their program will include Anthropic, Stability AI, Titan, and AI21 Labs. With Microsoft, Google, and now Amazon competing to dominate the AI race, it will be interesting to see the progress and evolution of the surprisingly nascent industry.
