Market Recap – May 26th
Markets edged upwards yesterday for the first time in a while. All major indexes saw gains with The Dow rising 588 points or 1.8%, the S&P 500 climbing 2.2%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gaining 2.9%. A surge in shares of Dollar Tree helped the market move.
Looking at specific investments, we’re watching McDonald’s and Delta. McDonald’s won its proxy battle with activist investor Carl Icahn, who owns just 200 shares, and pushed for animal-welfare concerns. Delta Air Lines has removed about 100 flights a day from July 1 through Aug. 7 to ease up logistical concerns.
