Today we are watching…
1.ย ExxonMobil (#exxon)
Oil giant, Exxon, is ready to report its earnings today and analysts are uncertain about its chances at beating analysts’ expectations. Even though oil prices have been on the rise, a production slowdown in the company’s upstream operations, which account for the majority of its revenues, seems likely to offset the positive price impact. At this point it could go either way. The consensus EPS estimate is $0.74 (-32.1%) on revenue of $67.35bn (-1.2%).ย
2. Cabot Oil & Gas (#cabot)
Cabot, on the other hand, is looking promising ahead of its announcement today. Despite trading choppily for the last month, surging operating revenues from its natural gas business, coupled with higher oil prices, may be the X-factor that helps the company post solid earnings this quarter. Analysts have also predicted a 67% increase in yearly revenues and many have revised their expectations for today’s announcement upwards during this week. The consensus EPS estimate is $0.65 (+132.1%) on revenue of $674.71ย million (+42.6%).ย ย
