Coca-Cola To Cut 2200 Jobs Around the World and Walmart Gets Sued by The Justice Department
Coca-Cola
Well known beverage company Coca-Cola has been looking to reorganize and restructure the companyโs workforce as part of its response to the COVID pandemic. One of the ways they will be doing this is by cutting down its workforce by 2200 jobs.
When a large corporation makes such a decision one thing people must always keep account for is the severance costs relating to such a move. For Coke, these counts will come in between $350 million to $550 million.
Walmart
Walmart is being sued by the Justice Department for a rather interesting reason. The Department is alleging that the retail giant has unlawfully dispensed controlled substances through its pharmacies which have in turn, fueled the opioid crisis in the U.S.
The civil complaint was filed on Tuesday and has made the claim that Walmartโs more than 5000 pharmacies had a part in the opioid crisis through the unlawful filing of prescriptions.
