Market Recap – January 17th

Markets closed slightly weaker yesterday with the The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) falling 0.6%, the S&P 500 dropping 0.1%, and only the Nasdaq Composite managing to rise 0.6% due to strong performance by large-cap technology stocks. Moreover, the fear-gauge CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) was down 5.56%%. For some specific stocks we’re watching Amazon which has planned to stop accepting Visa credit cards in the UK, and Ford, which has signed a five-year payment deal with Stripe for e-commerce drive.
