Alphabet to Launch TikTok Style Product and Draftkings Closes a Deal with ESPN
Alphabet
Alphabet’s YouTube plans to release a new short-form video service called Shorts. The new service will allow users to record vertical videos, add special effects and music in hopes of creating an interesting and engaging piece of content.
Before it will be released internationally, YouTube will first test the product in India over the next few days. As TikTok’s secret sauce relies heavily on its video-sharing algorithm, consumers will have to wait and see if YouTube’s version can give TikTok and Facebook’s Instagram Reels a run for their money.
DraftKings
DraftKings shares were up over 15% on Monday after it announced an agreement to become the co-exclusive provider of fantasy sports content and offerings for Walt Disney Co. owned sports network subsidiary ESPN.
The agreement allows DraftKings to integrate its products across ESPN’s digital platforms and will provide a daily fantasy sports promotion along with various ESPN studio shows. This marks a big day for the world of sports betting as it continues to be further integrated into the average sports fan’s everyday lives.
