Market Recap – February 14th
The markets got what they were waiting for: the January CPI report. Although the results were a bit questionable, the love from Valentineโs Day might have balanced things out. The bell rang on Tuesday with the S&P 500 down 0.03%, the Dow Jones down 0.46%, and the NASDAQ up 0.57% in what was an extremely choppy trading session.
Despite this, there were big winners that stood out today. Palantir rose by 21.16% to $9.22 after reporting their first profitable quarter as things start to look up for the startup business, with analysts saying that the value comes from the fact that 60 percent of the revenue is from government contracts. Palantir is a tech company though, and one of the Dow companies flourished too. Avis Budget rose by 10.66% to $244.00, shifting the movement of the Dow due to an earnings beat and strong revenue estimates.
