Market Recap โ September 13th
The markets were mixed on Wednesday, representing the good and bad things that came out of the August inflation report. All indices spent time in the green and red, but it was movements in certain sectors that contributed to the choppy day. The markets closed with the S&P 500 up 0.12%, the Dow Jones down 0.20%, and the NASDAQ up 0.29%. One of todayโs losers was American Airlines, down 5.67% to $13.31 following news that they are cutting their third quarter profit outlook ahead of rising fuel costs, joining airlines like Spirit in making that decision. On the positive side, Moderna rose by 3.18% to $108.59 after delivering promising results in their flu vaccine trial, a clear indication that the COVID-19 vaccine creator is branching out to fight other illnesses using mRNA technology.
