Market Recap – December 10th
The S&P 500 closed at a record on Friday, capping off Wall Street’s strong rally this week, despite inflation hitting a 39-year high. The S&P 500 rose 0.95%, to close at a record. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained or 0.6%. The technology-focused Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.7%.
Consumer discretionary stocks Amazon and Starbucks rose 1.2% and fell less than 1%, respectively. Shares of the two retail companies were impacted due to recent news of a fine against Amazon and the initiation of Starbucks’s unionization process.
