Market Recap – March 8th
Markets have been struggling lately with the Russia-Ukraine war raging on. As of yesterday, Stock futures lowered in anticipation of the continued difficulty in commodity prices. Assets like oil have seen major price hikes and high inflation across the board as a direct result of the war in Ukraine. All major indexes closed lower yesterday, with the Dow losing 0.5%, The S&P 500 losing 0.7%, and The Nasdaq losing 0.2%. Looking at two specific stocks, we’ve been watching McDonald’s and Coca-Cola. Both companies have made the move to move out of Russia, moving in line with the West’s general rollout of sanctions against Russia. McDonald’s has said while its operations are paused, they will continue to pay employees.
