DirecTV Put Up for Auction and Good News from Humana’s Accounting Department
AT&T
Around 5 years ago, AT&T acquired DirecTV for $67 billion. Today, AT&T is considering selling a significant minority stake in DirecTV, AT&T Now and U-Verse pay-tv operations, according to various sources. Final bids are due in early December.
DirecTV is looking at a serious haircut with valuations projected to come in at less than $15 billion. As the company attempts to pivot away from this failing business, it will be interesting to see if they can put those billions of dollars to work!
Humana
On Tuesday, Humana Inc. released its third-quarter earnings report and almost doubled its net income to $1.76 billion from $888 million, compared to the same period last year. The company also raised its full-year outlook for Medicare advantage membership growth.
Since the beginning of 2020, Humana shares have booked a strong return of around 11.5%. In contrast, the SPDR Health Care Select Sector ETF, or XLV, has moved up only 1.6%. Will Humana Inc. be able to accomplish its fourth-quarter goals?
